      Charles by the early 1900s he was a mining engineer at Nelson, BC and Nanaimo, BC In the very early teens he was an engineer at the Ocean Falls pulp and paper plant and in the 20s moved to Portland, Oregon where he was a civil engineer, firstly for a pulp and paper company and then in private practise
