  JACOB D. SCHMIDT Jacob Schmidt, employed for the past 19 years at Mount Hope Cemetery, died at his residence, 176 Waterloo street, at an early hour today. Deceased, prominently known in the city, had been in failing health for some time. He was son of the late George Schmidt and Elizabeth Dechert, who migrated to this country from Germany in the early 80's. The late Jacob Schmidt was born at North Easthope in March of 1849, making his age 82 years, ten months and 17 days. June 20, 1869 he wedded Kathrine Gerth at North Easthope. With one son and four daughters, his wife survives him, the last remaining member of his family. The children are, Henry G., of North Easthope, Mrs. W. W. Gough, London, Ont., Mrs. G. Falk, Stratford, Mrs. H. Rank, Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. E. Knechtel, city. One daughter, Mr. F. Daugh, predeceased him seven years ago. Fourteen grandchildren and 10 great-grand-children also survive. The funeral will be held on Friday with private service at his late home followed by a public service at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, of which he was a member, at 2.30. Interment will be made at Woodland Mausoleum. Rev. J. Schmied er will be in charge.
