- Mrs. Madeline Stemmler, widow of Joseph Stemmler, died last night Mrs. at the home of her daughter, A. J. Schnarr, 48 William St. W., Waterloo, following short illness. She was 83 years old and was born at Dorking, Ont. Mrs. Stemmler attended St. Louis R.C. Church while in Waterloo and was member of the Sacred Heart and the Altar Societies of St. Mary's Church. Hessen.
Her husband predeceased her ten years ago. Surviving her are seven sons, Edward, Eugene, Albert, R.R.3 Listowel; Herbert and Simon, R.R. 1. Britton, and Anthony and Seraphin, Kitchener. Two daughters, Clara, Mrs. A. J. Schnarr, Waterloo. and Cecelia, Mrs. Charles Hammer, Kitchener, also survive her. Five sons and two daughters predeceased her. Other survivors are one brother. John Gatschene, Los Angeles, Cal. and four sisters, Mrs. T. Speckman, California; Mrs. J. Welty, Miss Mary Gatschene, Paul, Minn., and Mrs. Caroline Voll, Saskatchewan. She leaves 61 grandchildren and great grandchildren and nine children.
The remains will rest at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Schnarr, 48 William St Waterloo, from three o'clock this afternoon until nine o'clock tomorrow morning when they will be removed to the home of her son. Eugene Stemmler, at Dorking, until the funeral at 9:30 from the house Wednesday morning to St. Mary's Church, Hessen, at 10 o'clock. Interment will be made in the adjoining cemetery.
