Notes |
- Berlin Chronicle 18 Feb 1857
01 Feb 1857 On Monday evening last, a melancholy accident occurred in the village of New Hamburg. A man by the name of William Parker, a Butcher residing with Frederick Lang, fell down stairs, and sustained such very serious injuries that he died next morning. The neck-bone had been driven into the base of the brain! On Tuesday, Dr. Bowlby, of Berlin, Coroner, held an Inquest on the body and a verdict was returned of "Accidental Death, while in a state of intoxication." This is another melancholy instance of the abuse abuse of spirits." The deceased, we believe, resided at one time in Galt.
