Notes |
- Death of Mrs. Norman Riffer
There passed away at the home of her parents at Waterloo, where she had been staying the last few weeks, Alma Shinn, wife of Mr. Norman Riffer, at the age of 24 years, 8 months and 21 days. Mr. and Mrs. Riffer were married on October 19th, 1911 and in joy and hopefulness started housekeeping. But a cloud soon appeared on the horizon of the happiness, Mrs. Riffer showed signs of failing health and medical men diagnosed it as a hopeless case of tuberculosis of the lungs. Mr. Riffer did everything he could for her and thinking there might still be a chance, sent her for treatment to the King Edward Sanitarium at Weston. But after nine weeks' stay there the doctors of the institution declared there was no hope for her. So she came home to Elmira, where she received every attention until she went to Waterloo where she gradually sank until the end came last Sunday morning.
The funeral takes place this afternoon at Waterloo. This is one of the many sad cases where the white plague gets in its work in our land.
