  • Notes 
    • George Dobbie was the president of the three largest textile plants in Galt. He moved to Brockville aged 6. He entered his father's business selling carriage hardware and related products. He came to Galt in 1906 when he purchased the Victoria Wheel Works from his father-in-law Robert Scott. He sold his interest in 1916 and bought a half interest in two textile mills: Newlands & Co. Ltd and the Galt Robe Co. they later became known as Stauffer-Dobbie Ltd. His partner was Joseph Stauffer. He was involved in a number of business in and about Galt and Brantford as well in the USA. He was involved closely in the community: Boy Scouts, Galt Board of Trade, Red Cross, etc.
