    • MR. GEO. CORK PASSED AWAY AT TORONTO
Well Known in Waterloo Where He Was Principal of Central School--In His 89th Year.

Many Twin-City friends were grieved to learn of the passing of Mr. George Cork, at Toronto, on Tuesday, Jan. 22nd, in his 89th year. He was for many years principal of the Central School at Waterloo and was highly esteemed. The late Mr. Cork was born in England in 1840 and came to Canada with his parents when only two years of age. He was educated in Prince Edward County and in the Toronto Normal school. He spent fifty-three years of his life in teaching. For many years he was principal of the Waterloo Central school until 1907, the year in which he retired from the teaching profession. He was succeeded by Mr. Playford who occupied that position until succeeded by Neil A. McEachern. Following his retirement from school teaching, he entered the mission fields among the Indians on the reserves at Georgina, Walpole and Chemong. He was a member of Danforth United Church. Two sons, W. A. and S. E. Cork, and one daughter Mrs. C. E. Amsden, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild survive.
