  • Notes
    • Heimbecher and Jung had a factory on Church St [west] where the Liquor store is now. They manufactured frames for the upholstering industry and a lot of their goods were sent to Waterloo to the Snider Firm. Also at one time we had our own upholstering factory in town where the furniture factory office is now. It was run at that time by Martin Schendler. Ed Schierholtz and they used to employ Walter Hollinger, Norman Hollinger and Fodder Lein, Pete Weinstein, John Thomas, Henry Schmidt & myself & Milton Klinck.

Mr. Norman Hollinger, well-known and highly esteemed Elmira resident, passed away at the age of 55 years at the Kitchener-Waterloo hospital on Monday morning. He succumbed to a lingering illness, although he led an active life until several weeks prior to his death.

Interested in municipal activities, the late Mr. Hollinger was at various times a member of the High School, Public School and Library Boards. He was always active in sport and took a keen interest in the Elmira Bowling Club.

Mr. Hollinger served as a government employee in Elmira.

He was born in St. Jacobs, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Louis Hollinger, and came to Elmira when a young man. He was married to Laura Auman, of Elmira, who survives with one son, Reg, one sister, Mrs. W. S. Sheppard (Selima), of Waterloo, and two brothers, Gordon and Lincoln, of St. Jacobs.

Private funeral service was held from his late residence, 17 Centre Street, on Wednesday afternoon. Rev. A. W. Fosbuary, of Wesley United Church, conducted the services. Interment was made in the Elmira Cemetery.
