He lived at Kitchener for six years. Leaving Kitchener he went to Chicago, and in 1875 entered Concordia Theological Seminary at Springfield, Ill., graduating in 1880 Oct. 21 of the same year he was married to Miss Elizabeth Rittinger of Kitchener, at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

The first seven years of his ministry were spent in Wisconsin. We would recommend that Synod pass the following resolution: Whereas it has pleased Almighty God in His unsearchable wisdom to call from the Church Militant to the Church Triumphant, His servants, the Rev. Emil Hoffmann, and the Rev. Julius Badke, be it therefore resolved: "That at this, the first meeting of our Synod following the deaths of these servants, we bow in submission to God's will, in prayer show our gratitude to God for the years of service rendered to the Church and ask Him for guidance and implore His comfort and mercy upon the Church and families in their sorrow and loss.

      Respectfully submitted,

      A. C. E. GROTKE, Necrologist. The report was adopted.
