- Brenneman, Elmer, son of Nicholas and Catherine (Erb) Brenneman, was born near Tavistock, Ont., March 9, 1908; died at his home, Newton, Ont., Jan. 30, 1962, after a brief illness; aged 53 y. 9 m. 25 d. In 1929, he was married to Edna Leis, who survives. Surviving also are 3 sons (Kenneth, Newton; Arthur, Milverton; and Clifford, at home), one brother (Moses, Hickson), one sister (Kate-Mrs. Simon Roi, Hickson), and 5 grandchildren. Three brothers preceded him in death. He was a member of the Maple View A.M. Church. Funeral services were conducted by Chris O. Erb, Christian Streicher, and Valentine Nafziger.

Elmer Brenneman about 1961 By Record Correspondent
NEWTON-Elmer Brenneman, 53, a farmer in this community for the past nine years, died at his home Tuesday night after an illness of seven weeks.
He was born March 9, 1908 in East Zorra Township, son of the late Nicholas Brenneman and his wife, Catherine Erb. He was a member of Maple View Amish Mennonite Church, third concession of Wellesley Township.
In 1929 he married Edna Leis, who survives. Surviving also are three sons, Kenneth of Newton, Arthur of Milverton and Clifford, at home; a brother, Moses of Hickson; a sister, Mrs. Simon (Kattie) Roi of Hickson, and five grandchildren. Three brothers predeceased him.
The body will be at the home after 5 p.m. today. A short service will be conducted at the home Friday at 1: 15 p.m. followed by a memorial service at Maple View Church at about 3: 10 p.m. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Bishop Christian Streicher will officiate.
