Mrs. G. T. Hollinger Called Home
The News Record is called upon to chronicle to-day the death of one of the pioneers of this district, in Catharine Besserer, widow of the late George T. Hollinger, which took place on Sunday at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. John G. Koeber, of Leamington [sic]. Though a sufferer for some time, with rheumatism, she had been able to be around until about six weeks ago. Ten days ago she suffered a paralytic stroke and since then she has not been able to eat or speak. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 3rd, at 1: 30 p.m., from the residence of her son-in-law, John G. Koerber, to the Lutheran Church, Bridgeport, for service, thence to Bridgeport Cemetery. The deceased, who had attained the ripe age of 82 years, 6 months and 27 days, was born in Sinsheim, Baden, Germany, and had come to Canada in 1854. She was married in the same year to Mr. Geo. T. Hollinger, who predeceased her eighteen years ago. She had her home at Bridgeport until about fourteen years ago, since then she has resided with her son-in-law, Mr. J. T. Koerber, at Lexington. She is survived by two sons, Philip of Berlin, and John of Bridgeport, and one daughter, Mrs. V. Hahn, of Berlin. There are twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, besides one sister, Mrs. Wolfhard, of Berlin, and one brother, Mr. John Besserer, town.
