- SHANTZ, Mabel (nee Cressman) - Passed away peacefully at Fairview Mennonite Home, Cambridge, on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 in her 94th year. The daughter of Isaiah Cressman and Magdalena Shirk, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Clayton Shantz, in 2004, whom she had married in 1997. Mabel was also predeceased by her brothers, Leander, Ferhman, Clifford, Harold, Elton and Clayton Cressman and by her sisters, Vera (Simeon) Weaver, Una, Mary, Cora, Pearl and Leona Cressman, and Olive (Alfred) High. She is survived by her sister, Edith (Lloyd) Woolner; her step-children, Carol and Ernie Martin, Ray and Marlene Shantz, Dianne and Doug Roeder and Lynn and Al Stager; step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild. Visitation will take place at Fairview Mennonite Home, 515 Langs Drive, Cambridge, on Saturday, September 13, 2008 from 2 until 4 in the afternoon and 7 until 9 in the evening. A graveside service will be held at Shantz Mennonite Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 15th, 2008. A memorial service to commemorate Mabel's life will be held in the auditorium of Fairview Mennonite Home on Sunday, September 28, 2008 at 3 p.m. To remember Mabel, donations may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee or to the charity of your choice and may be arranged by contacting Westmount Funeral Chapel at (519) 743-8900.
