WELLESLEY - Herman Gerth, 78, of Wellesley, died at his home Monday night after an illness of five months.
Before he retired in 1948, he drove the mail between Baden and Wellesley for 38 years. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church here and the Canadian Order of Foresters.
He was born in Wellesley Nov. 4, 1876, son of the late Conrad Gerth and his wife, the late Ernsnia Mesh.
He is survived by his wife, the former Sarah Berdux, three sons, Walter of Milverton and Emerson and Elton, at home; one brother, George of Kitchener.
The body will be at the Futher Funeral Home, Wellesley until Wednesday at 3 p.m., then at the residence where a private funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 2:30 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 3 o'clock at St. Paul's Church. Rev. Ralph Huras will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
