  Christian E. Gingerich Called By Death The death of a well known and highly esteemed citizen of this community occurred at the farm home of his son, Edward, one mile north of New Hamburg, on Saturday, March 14, in the person of Christian E. Gingerich, at the age of 83 years and 14 days. He had been in failing health since the beginning of the year and was confined to bed for about a week prior to his demise. The late Mr. Gingerich was born in Wilmot Township, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Gingerich. Following his marriage he farmed for several years and later started a wood pump manufacturing business in New Hamburg, which he carried on until 1908 when he moved to Wellesley where he conducted the same business for eight years. In 1916 he purchased the farm of the late David Hostetler one mile north of New Hamburg, where he farmed until his retirement in 1920, and where he has since resided with his son, Edward. His wife, formerly Margaret Yost, predeceased him in May, 1917. He is survived by two sons, Edward, on the farm home, and William of Petersburg; three daughters, (Clara) Mrs. Edward Roth and (Hattie) Mrs. John Roth, both of North Easthope and Miss Margaret Gingerich of Kitchener. There is also one brother, John, of Baden. One son predeceased him in 1918. The funeral took place Tuesday afternoon from Steinman's Funeral Home, Baden, to Hostetler's Church, of which he was a devoted member. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery. Rev.
