  Matis, Elsa It is with sadness, that the family of Elsa Matis (nee Foth) announce her death on Monday December 9, 2002 in her 82nd year. We wish to express our heartfelt thanks for the compassion shown her by the caregivers at Freeport Health Centre. We thank God for the years we were able to share with her. Beloved wife of Edmund Matis of Kitchener for 54 years. Loving mother of Bernhard of Kitchener, and Herbert and his wife Marilyn of Caledon East. Grandmother of Janessa, Kristoffer, Alicia and Stefani. Survived by her sister Frieda (Willi) Hassenruek of Winnipeg. Predeceased by her parents Julius Foth and Emilie (Neumann); four brothers Albert (Anna), Julius (Lydia), Heinrich (Alma), Wilhelm (Martha); two sisters Martha Foth and Olga (Waldo) Fast. Elsa's family will receive relatives and friends from 7-9 PM Wednesday, and from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Thursday at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener (749-8467). Funeral service 11 AM Friday December 13, 2002 at the Kitchener Mennonite Brethren Church (19 Ottawa St. North, Kitchener). Interment Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
