BERGER, Frederick (Fred) Charles Passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on Friday, March 20, 2015, at the age of 94. Beloved partner of Theresa Zach. Loving father of Lynda (Tim) McInnes and Jan Zepotoczny-Berger. Stepfather of Gayle (Peter) Draper, Warren Breedon, Gloria Cooze (Stu Brown), Valerie (Gary) Lebold, Glenna Armstrong, Gwen (Glenn) Roberts, Dave (Peggy) Herlick, Paul (Jane) Herlick, Terry (Lynn) Herlick, Tom (Carolyn) Herlick, Dan Herlick, Kevin (Caroline) Zach, Wade Zach, Paul (Elizabeth) Zach. Cherished grandfather of Jackson and Sally Draper, Erin and Trevor Zach, Emily Roberts, Steven (Sheila) Lebold, David Lebold, Brenda Cooze (Steve Noonan), Brian (Sherilee) Cooze, Kate, Emma and Abby Herlick, Andrea (Ryan) Stumph, Jeff (Karen) Herlick, Samantha, Erica, and Kelsey Zach as well as numerous additional (loved) grandchildren and great-grand-children. Predeceased by parents, Charles and Annie (Brunne) Berger, brothers and sisters Annie, Emma (Otto), Edmond (Erna), Alma (Henry), Charles, Herbert (Kath), William (Beth), Elsie (Mose), Harold (Millie), Milton and by his first wife Mary Zepotoczny, partner, Jean Opyc and wife, Dorothy Herlick. Survived by sister-in-law Isobel as well as many nieces and nephews. Born in Arnstein, Ontario, Fred grew up on the family farm and spent many of his early years logging before moving to Southern Ontario where he worked in textiles. Fred enjoyed bowling, gardening, shuffleboard, crokinole, a good game of cards and his beloved Toronto Blue Jays. He served in the Second World War under the 8th Canadian Hussars (Princess Louise's) and is a member of Branch 272 of the Royal Canadian Legion (Hespeler Branch). Fred served as an Elder at St. Luke's United Church, Hespeler, ON. Fred loved spending time with family and friends. Fred's family will receive relatives and friends from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel immediately following the visitation at 3:00 p.m. Saturday. A reception will follow in the Reception Room at the Funeral Home. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the SickKids Hospital Foundation, The Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Veterans Emergency.
