Harold was a Government of Canada Sales and Excise Tax Auditor for many years before retirement. He served overseas during the Second World War with the RCAF as a LAC. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No 208, Wiarton, the Guelph Fishing Club, the Business and Professional Men's Club, Treasurer of the Red Bay Association and a Volunteer at the Rockway Seniors with the Income Tax program. Harold was also a member of the Mr. and Mrs. Club at Trinity United Church and was a member of St. James'-Rosemount United Church.
Survived by wife, Marion nee Watts- of 47 years and sons Wayne and Paul and daughters Debra and Susan, and brothers Ron and his wife Marion of Jordan and William Beverley and his wife Eve of Burlington, and a sister Shirley and her husband James Langdon of Hamilton. Predeceased by his parents were William McCarter and Emma Greig and his son James Harold McCarter.
