An Old Resident Gone \endash On Sunday evening last our old townsman, Mr. Robt. Vair, passed to his rest in his 84th year. Mr. Vair was a native of Newstead, Roxboroughshire, Scotland, and came to this country in 1840. He first settled at Kingston, where he remained about four years, then removing to Belleville where he also spent about the same time. While there he was married to Mary Ann, second daughter of the late Edward Cleugh, who still survives him. Leaving Belleville he came to Dickie Settlement in North Dumfries, where he resided for about 25 years. Retiring from active life about 16 years ago he came to Galt, where he has since continuously resided. Besides his widow he leaves two sons and an adopted daughter, viz.: - Mr. Thomas Vair, station agent, Durham; Mr. R. A. Vair, station agent, Norwich, Ont. and Mrs. Martin Johnston, of Detroit. His sons were present at his funeral.
