- Hurt in Mishap, Aged Heidelberg Woman Passes

HEIDELBERG, July 23. - Injured eight days ago in a basement mishap in her Heidelberg home, Mrs. Caroline Gies, 82, died today in St. Mary's Hospital.
Mrs. Gies was in the basement with some jars in her hands when she took a fainting spell and collapsed. Although badly cut by broken glass, she managed to telephone for aid.
She lapsed into unconsciousness. shortly after help arrived, and was taken to hospital by ambulance.
A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Walter, she was born in Bamberg, May 5, 1867. She was a member of St. Clements R.C. Church and the Christian Mothers of the Church.
Surviving are five sons, Robert, of Blind River, Ont.; Leander and Alexander, of Waterloo; Walter and Albert, of Kitchener, and three daughters, Mrs. Bella Ball, of Kitchener: Mrs. William -(Mynetta) Peckham, of Hamilton; Mrs. Harry (Lenora) Schill, of Buffalo, N.Y.
There are two brothers. Robert, of Toronto, and John, of Spokane, Wash., and one sister. Mrs. Julia Martin, of Guelph. Also surviving are 29 grandchildren and 21 greatgrandchildren. Her husband, John Gies, predeceased her April 17, 1944.
The funeral will be held Monday morning with prayers at the Walsh Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. and requiem high mass at St. Clements R.C. Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Clements. R.C. Cemetery. The body is resting at the funeral home until the time of the service.
Msgr. William Becker will officiate. Interment will be in St. Clements R.C. Cemetery, The body is resting at the funeral home until the time of the service.
