      ST. CLEMENTS Eugene John Dietrich, 78, of St. Clements died Tuesday at St. Joseph's Hospital, Guelph, after an illness of about a year.

      Born March 20, 1884, in St. Clements, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Dietrich and a lifelong resident of St. Clements. Formerly farmer, he was also road superintendent of Wellesley Township for 25 years. A member of St. Clements RC Church, he was also a member of the Holy Name Society.

      Surviving are his wife, the former Elizabeth Busch, whom he married June 18, 1909, in St. Clements; eight sons, Anthony and Albert of Waterloo, Rev. Edward Dietrich of North Bay, Frank, Leo, George and Harry of St. Clements and Charles of Waterloo; five daughters, Marcella, Mrs. Edward (Agnes) Lorentz and Mrs. Emmanuel (Ann) Meyers, all of St. Clements: Sister Edwardine (Mildred) of St. Joseph's Hospital and Mrs. R. (Mary) Voisin of Maryhill; three brothers, Louis and Alex of St. Clements and William of Linwood; a sister, Julia Dietrich of Dundas and 50 grandchildren. He was predeceased by one sister.

      The body will be at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, until Friday at 10 a.m. when removal will be made to his home in St. Clements. The rosary, will be recited at his home Friday at 8:30 p.m. and prayers will be said there Saturday at 10 a.m. Removal will then be made to St. Clements RC Church for solemn high mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Clements Cemetery. Father Dietrich, his son, will officiate..
