Notes |
- A quick review of the passenger list for the ship Louis Philippe clearly showed the perils of undertaking this 3293 mile watery voyage to the New World. 311 passengers were initially on board when the ship left Le Havre, France in the early part of August 1846. Research showed that the average amount of time the trip took was anywhere from a record 2 weeks with this ship in 1838, to even longer depending upon weather conditions. When the Louis Philippe finally docked in New York on the 19 Aug 1846, (7) people were recorded on the passenger list as having lost their lives. One of those persons was Michael & Catherine's infant first daughter Anne. No exact date was indicated for her death, but it would be safe to assume that with no proper storage facilities for human remains, the bodies would have been buried at sea. The final destination stated for the living majority of the passengers was Utica, New York, USA
