Meyer,JacobS.-1855-1927-0001-PaintingofHorse-WRM.jpg This oil painting is of Redgauntlet, a Clydesdale stallion owned by Jacob S. Meyer (1855-1927) of St. Clements, Wellesley Township. Jacob served as Deputy Reeve and as a tax collector for the township. He owned several Clydesdale stallions; Cedric King and Fyvie Pearl were two others. The painting was done by Jacob's sister-in-law, Anna (Affholder) Koebel (1862-1942) and is dated 1900.

- Jacob S. Meyer
Jacob S. Meyer, a life-long resident of St. Clements, passed away there early this morning in his 73rd year after a short illness. Deceased who was born in St. Clements had devoted his entire life to the welfare of the community. He is survived by his wife, five sons, Alphons, of St. Clements, Walter, Lincoln and Leslie of Guelph and Sylvester of St.Thomas. Three daughters, Mrs. Ed Heimbuch and Mrs. Henry Hess of this city and Eva at home and three brothers, George and John of St. Clements and Adam of Waterloo. The funeral will be held on Tuesday morning at nine o'clock from his late residence to St. Clements R. C. church. Burial will be made in the adjoining cemetery.
