      Szenyi, Veronica (nee Wenz):

Dear Mom, passed away peacefully at Sunnyside Home on June 2, 2021 at the age of 81. Veronica was predeceased by her first husband, Zoltan Szenyi (1985) and her dear life partner Karl Fortenbaher (2017). She is mourned by her children, Annette Szenyi-Grigg (David) and Elisabeth Szenyi and by Karl's children, their spouses and grandchild. She will be missed dearly by her brother Henry. She leaves behind extended family in Hungary and the friends she met up with for coffee several times a week at McDonald's.

Veronica was born in Hungary and emigrated to Montreal in 1953. It was there she met her husband, Zoltan. Soon after they welcomed their two daughters, Annette and Elisabeth. Veronica worked at Weston's in Montreal and when the family relocated to Kitchener in 1969 she opened a family bakery in Country Hills specializing in European pastries. She will be remembered for her love of dancing, baking and cooking, her love of her children and family, and of course the infamous, "Yoo-Hoo, dinner's ready!" and her comical phrase, "Oh! Knock it off!"

A private interment will be held at Woodland Cemetery, where she will be reunited with her beloved, Zoltan.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Sunnyside Home Foundation would be appreciated by the family. A big thank you to the staff at Riverside Wing at Sunnyside Home.
