      In general mercantile establishments St. Clements ranks far ahead of many villages of its size and population. The large mercantile establishment owned and conducted by the above named gentleman would be a credit to any town or village. The store-room is about 24 x 55 feet in dimensions and two stories high. This spacious apartment is packed to its utmost limits with merchandise, comprising dry goods, notions, boots and shoes, hats and caps, clothing, over coats, underwear, hosiery, &c, and also staple and fancy groceries and choice family flour.

      Mr. Heric has been established in business here about five years and can be classed among the most successful business men of the county. He was born in this township in 1857, and has been identified with the mercantile business almost ever since he started out on life's rugged pathway to earn his own living. He was for five years and a half with George Doering of Wellesley, where he served his apprenticeship, and was subsequently employed in Baden and in business for himself in Linwood. He has a wife and three children and resides in comfortable home in the village. The G N.W. telegraph office is located in his establishment. He is a Conservative in politics and an influential member of the Catholic church of this place.
