Donald Stuart Maus, of Kincardine, passed away at Southampton Care Centre on Thursday, September 24, 2009, in his 81st year. He was born on May 5, 1929, in Ayr. Beloved husband of Suzanne Maus (née Fielding) for 54 years. Much loved father of Kathy (Jim) Stevenson of Barrie, Ann (Rob) Miller of Point Clark, John (Carol) Maus of Tara, and Barb Maus (Brian Hines) of Chatsworth. Also cherished by eight grandchildren: Michael Stanley, Katelyn, Laura and Sean Stevenson, Jordan (Ashley) and Zack Miller and Codey, Bryn, Nick and Joe Maus. He is also survived by sisters Elizabeth Maus of Hamilton and Jean McGugan of Strathroy, sisters-in-law, Lil Maus and Cathy Fielding. Predeceased by his daughter Dorothy Lynne, grandsons Mathew Stanley Stevenson and Joel Miller, brothers John, Doug and Hugh and sisters Agnes, Margaret and Frances. Don was a member of the Kincardine United Church, Probus Club and the Masons. He was a former volunteer driver for the Cancer Society and for Meals on Wheels, and past president of the Kincardine Curling Club. He thoroughly enjoyed 41 years as a farmer and cattle drover, considering his clients to be among his best friends. In 1956, he moved from Ayr to Bruce County, farming initially in partnership with his father and brothers. Known for his sharp wit, he was terribly fond of family and friends, and especially appreciated all of their support during recent times, as his health declined. Visitation to be held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine, on Saturday, September 26 from 1:00 to 3:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service to be held at the Kincardine United Church on Sunday, September 27 at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Don Harry officiating. Interment, Kincardine Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Don may consider the Kincardine Hospital or the Kincardine United Church.
