- MACLEOD, Robert Bruce 1919 - 2013 Robert Bruce Macleod, predeceased by his wives, Bette (nee Sarre) in 1966 and Eva (nee Hoad/ Brown) in 2009. Also predeceased by his brother Tom (late Pat) in 1977; daughters Edna Hill in 2010 and Debra Brown in 1969. Born in Sexsmith, Alberta to Frances Elsie (Bruce) and Robert Albert Macleod. Survived by Jane Dillon (Richard) of Burlington, Roderick Macleod (Gail) of Calgary, Gregory Brown (Jennifer) of Vancouver and sons-in-law Michael O'Shea of Chemainus, Vancouver Island and Bruce Hill of Brantford. Grandfather of Jeffrey Hill (Lee Anne) and Craig Hill (Kimberly) of Brantford; Michael Dillon (Nicole) of Carlisle and Steven Dillon (Darya) of Stoney Creek; Brooke Grosh (Colin), Logan Macleod (Ashley) of Calgary and Gray Macleod (Karli) of Sherwood Park, AB; Zanna Basi and Saffron and Amar Brown of Langley, BC. Great-grandfather of Jacob and Emerson Hill; Cameron and Charlotte Dillon; Adele and Nikolai Dillon; Gavyn, Karter and Graedyn Macleod. Special friends Arline and Chuck Crockford. Bob was a veteran of WWII. He served in the reserve army from August 1940 to August 1941 when he enlisted in the active army. Bob went overseas in November 1941 and during the next 4-1/2 years proudly served in Great Britain, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals. Bob started working at Mutual Life in 1939 and retired 45 years later in 1984. Bob was the first president for K-W Big Brother Association 1965-1968 and on the National Board for Big Brothers Canada for one year. Bob belonged to the Intervarsity Christian Fellowship from 1972-1987 serving three terms as Chairman of the Area Committee; Purchasing Association of Canada from 1973-1974 as President and Past President; Confederation Club from 1982-1987 serving as Vice President and Chairman of the Speakers Committee. Bob spent many years writing the Family History. His greatest passion was writing his war memories which he shared with family and friends. Friends are invited to share their memories of Robert with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home , 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Sunday, January 5, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel of the funeral home on Monday, January 6, 2014 at 11 a.m. Reception to immediately follow in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home. Private family burial will be held at Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener.
