    • Thomas Hilborn - Preston -

      Thomas Hilborn, 76, a prominent Waterloo county resident, died at St. Mary's Hospital on Tuesday. He was the last surviving member of the John H. Hilborn family whose homestead was in the vicinity of Hagey's church, near Preston. Mr. Hilborn lived on a farm in Waterloo Township all his life except for a period of nine years when he was employed with Clare Brothers at Preston. In recent years he lived retired on a farm south of Pine Hill school. His wife predeceased him about six months. The late Mr. and Mrs. Hilborn celebrated their golden wedding in November, 1937. They were married at the Lutheran parsonage in Preston. His predeceased wife was the former Mary Louisa Coons of Holland Township, Gery County. Mr. Hilborn was a member of the United Brethren Church, Freeport. Surviving are three sons, Walter of Ogdensburg, N.Y., John and Percy of the Kitchener-Preston highway, a daughter, Mrs. Jack Allison of Toronto, ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The funeral was held at the Gordon Pass Funeral Home, Preston, where a memorial service was held on Thursday. Interment in Hagey's cemetery.
