- HIPEL, Roy W. Passed away at the Cambridge Country Manor on Thursday, March 24, 2011, at the age of 82. Beloved husband of Joan Hipel (Hagey) for 60 years. Loved father of Wendy Beirnes (Tim), David Hipel, Jim Hipel (Jennifer) and Nancy Martin (Scott). Cherished grandfather of Kerri Beirnes (Mike), Kristin Beirnes (Chris), Kaylee Taylor (Curtis), Troy Beirnes, Allison Hipel, Jacob Hipel, Kadison Hipel, Jayden Hipel, Lindsay Schmidt (Andrew) and Tyler Martin. Great-grandfather of Destiny Schmidt, Leah Schmidt and Lucas Taylor. Also survived by his sister Stella Hipel. Predeceased by his grandson Aaron Hipel, brothers Earl and Ken Hipel and sisters Marg Heer and Pearl Schmitt. Roy was a lifelong dairy farmer and member of Trillium United Church in Cambridge. Roy's family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, March 27, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A private family memorial service will be held in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mark Rutledge officiating. Cremation with interment in Hagey Cemetery, Cambridge. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
