Notes |
- Continuing along the river road to the northward, on the east side of the river, we come to the new Guelph & Goderich Railway, which has been under construction during the past year The first to take up a farm in this neighborhood was one by the name of Isaac Kepke. He was followed by Michael Spiez and then, on the same farm, west of the river road and that through which the railway is built, was Jonathan Tribe. Jonathan Tribe married Martha Cornell and those in their family were: Nathaniel married Phoebe Lawrence . Thomas married Annias Sugg; Martha was unmarried; Miriam married Oscar Woodward; William married and lived in Michigan; Joseph and Alice went west to Alberta.
Jonathan Tribe died on March 1 2th, 1872, at the age of forty nine years and nine months. Mrs. Tribe went west, and died near Calgary, Alberta.
The one who followed Jonathan Tribe on part of this farm was Richard Moreill, who was born in Robin Hood's Forest, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, England, on April 10th, 1809. He lived at Markham, Toronto and Brampton before coming to this farm in Woolwich.
