- CACCIOPPOLI, Rita (nee Calazzo) Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Monday, May 23, 2011, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, in her 87th year. Beloved wife of the late Vincenzo Caccioppoli (1992). Loving mamma of Italia, Lucy (Don) Marskell, Umberto "Bert" (Pat), Tony (Cleo) and Carmine (Mary). Cherished nonna of Carla (Chris) Da Silva, Calina, Vincenza "Cassandra", Kyra, Victoria, Vincenzo "Enzo", Eve and her first great-grandchild, who is due to be born in October. Dear sister of Giuseppe Caiazzo of Canada and her three siblings in Italy; Pia, Clara and Alberto Caiazzo. Predeceased by her grandson Christopher, her brother Franco and her sisters Teresa and Flora. Rita will be missed by her many nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy. Rita arrived to Canada in 1952 from Napoli, Italy. In 1967 Rital and her husband started a small food store, which has grown today to become "Vincenzo's". Nonna loved her grandchildren, looking after her family and listening to napolitano music. Her children will always be thankful for her hard work and sacrifices to provide them with a better life. Rita's family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Parish prayers at 7:45 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home. Interment at Parkview Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Arthritis Society of Kitchener- Waterloo (cards are available at the funeral home). A special thank you. to the caring and wonderful staff in the ICU and Emergency Department of St. Mary's Hospital.
