  • Notes
    • ECKEL, CHRISTIAN BENJAMIN was a 1905 graduate of the University of Toronto, who was registered in 1906. He began to practice at New Hamburg, apparently in the summer of 1906, and left in December of that year for Adelaide,

His story is found in his obituary in the New Hamburg news of the Daily Telegraph of March 28, 1918:

The Death occurred on Friday morning last at the residence of his brother-in-law, W. F. Thomas, of Dr, Christian Benjamin Eckel. Dr, Eckel was born in 1884 on April 15th, in Mildmay. His early education was attained at Pembroke, Ontario. He secured his degree from the University of Toronto and shortly opened a practice in New Hamburg. Leaving here he practised medicine for eight years in Adelaide, where he made hosts of friends. He left to take a special course in treatment of the eye, ear nose and throat and following this he practised for three and a half years in Brantford, as a specialist. It was in this city that he was taken seriously ill and forced to retire from practice, going to St. Thomas last September for his health. Unfortunately the disease developed and gradually became worse until it resulted in his death. . . . He leaves to mourn his wife and one daughter.

He died on March l6th. 1918.
