  • Notes
    • EVANS, J. H. was a wanderer about whose previous history we seem to have little information. Trinity University is mentioned in his card, without specifying location. A John Evans was registered in 1887, and was in Elmwood in 1892, according to the Register.

      J. K. Evans was mentioned in the Conestoga News of the Weekly News Record, April 21, 1898. The item said that he had performed several delicate operations the past few months.

In May of 1899 the Berlin Journal announced that he was moving to Berlin, but his card did not appear until August 10, when it ran in the Weekly Record:

Dr. Evans, L. R. C. P. Ireland M. J. C. M. Trin. Univer., M. C. P. 5. O. Licentiate of General Council, Great Britain, Specialty Diseases of Women and Surgery General and Orthopaedic (correcting of deformity Feet Joints and Spinal Injuries).

      A further note read:

Dr. J. Evans will open an office in the building on Queen str. north, formerly occupied by the Berlin Fire Insurance Co., on Wednesday August 3rd. Night calls will be answered at No. 4 Terrace, Margaret Avenue.

His card appeared until February 15, 1900, but nothing further was heard of him until his death. This oocurred when he was about 52 years of age, on February 11 Feb 1914, at Eganville. He had evidently been practising in Barry's Bay, and, before that in Toronto. He left his widow, two sons and two daughters in Toronto

Dr. Alexander D. Campbell, Doctors in Waterloo County 1852-1925
