  • Notes
    • HUTCHISON, WILLIAM G. was born at Port Rowan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Hutchison. He attended the University of Western Ontario, graduating in medicine in 1908.

He practised first at Port Rowan, and in 1913 bought the practice of Jr. R. J. Lockhart of Hespeler. The Port Rowan News said of his removal:

. . . . He had a good practice here and had done exceptionally well for a young man, Socially as well as professionally he is popular in the community. He is a member of the Board of Education and also of the building committee of the Neal Memorial Church, and a liberal patron of clean sports, and a pusher in all lines of progress. His going will be a distinct loss to Port Rowan, and Hespeler will gain a live, public- spirited citizen.

He practised from the same house on Queen Street for 34 years until shortly before his death.

He served as Medical Officer of Health and as Chairman of the Hespeler Board of Health for 28 years, and was active as well in community and church affairs.

He died on November 11, 1947 and was survived by his widow and three sons. His obituary in the Galt Reporter said that "this community has lost one of its most respected citizens."
