    • LANCASTER, JOSEPH J. more properly belongs to the London area, but he spent about two years in Galt. His card in the Dumfries Reformer appeared from June 1857 to June 1859.

      J. J. Lancaster M. D. HOMEOPATHIC PhYSICIAN AND SURGEON, Graduate of the Pennsylvania College, Member of the Hahnemannian Institute, and PREDICENT OF THE CANADIAN HOMEOPATHIC SOCIETY. Office in Mr. Shade's Building, over the Post Office, Galt, C. W. Galt June l, 1857

      His career, which is covered by Seaborne in "The March of Medicine in Western Ontario", will be briefly outlined here.

      He was born in Norwich township, Oxford County, in 1813. He taught school in that county, and studied with a New York State physician. He began to practice in Norwich, moving to Lambeth in 1848. He spent six months in Philadelphia studying homeopathy, and on his return to Canada opened his practice in Galt. He then returned to London where he died in 1884.

      Dr. J. J. Lancaster, of this city, died here to-day from paralysis, he being a sufferer for three years. He was an active member of the Ontario medical council in its earliest days and represented the homeopathists on the board for many years. He was 72 years of age.
