Notes |
- MCCARVILLE, CHARLES RAYMOND was a son of Mr. and Mrs. James McCarville, of Kinkora, Prince Edward Island. He graduated from McGill University Medical School in 1919, and interned at the Ottawa Civic Hospital.
He began to practice in Waterloo in 1921, and in 1922 the Daily Record announced on July 15th. that he had taken over the practice of Dr. Weidenhammer at 21 Duke Street. He also acquired a number of patients from the practice of the late Dr. W. J. Fischer.
He became the company doctor for the Carling's Brewery, and for many years was the physician for the St. Agatha Orphanage. He had a substantial practice, and was popular with his patients and with the members of the medical profession. He kept up to date in medical matters and in many respects fulfilled the concept of the older type of family practitioner. He had in addition an excellent sense of humour - at one time the writer, living where the Kitchener Public Library is now located, used to receive mail from him with the address "Near Jail".
He was a member of the usual professional and fraternal organizations.
He retired from practice in 1960 for reasons of health, and died on January 12, 1964. He was survived by his widow and three daughters.
