  MCEWEN, JOHN ALBERT, was born at Hensall on April 14, 1883. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Toronto in 1908, and spent a year at the Homewood Sanatarium, Guelph. His card appeared in the Galt Evening Reporter on January 12, 1911, giving his address as Dickson Street, opposite the Electric Light Station. In August 1912 he left Galt to take over the practice in Carlton Place of a cousin who had died in an accident. The Galt Reporter on August remarked: "Dr. McEwan has been following his profession in Galt for the past two years. He has worked up a good practice and proved himself to be a clever physician. In his short residence here he had made a great many friends, who will be sorry to learn of his decision to leave Galt, and will be followed to his new home with every wish for his success." He died at Carleton Place on March 5th 1970. Dr. Alexander D.
