    • MCPHERSON, ALEXANDER JOHN "SANDY JOHN"

      At the residence, 27 Rose Street in Galt, at 9: 45 on Saturday morning, December 8, 1945, following two weeks' illness, in his 83rd year. Husband of Margaret Scott. Widely known in the district as "Sandy John", he was born in Crieff. Until 1914, he farmed on the 1st concession of Puslinch, on the farm where he was born. Then, he moved to Galt and started work for Newlands and Co. and remained in their employ for eighteen years. He has been retired for the past several years. Possessing a very genial and friendly disposition, Mr. McPherson was widely known and has a host of friends. He was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church. Surviving, besides his widow, are one daughter, Mrs. Gordon Scott of Concession St. in Galt; one son, Dr. Robert J. McPherson of Detroit; two brothers, Angus of Aberfoyle; John of San Francisco; one sister, Mrs. Mary McCaig of Aberfoyle; and five grandchildren. His body rested at his residence. Memorial service at the Harold Gray Funeral Home at 2: 30 on Monday. Rev. W. J. Walker of Knox Presbyterian Church officiated. Pallbearers: Fire Chief Walter Scott, Andrew Scott, John McCaig, Hector McCaig, James Ballantyne and John Ferguson. The service was largely attended and many floral tributes were received. Interment Mount View Cemetery.
