    • MELDRUM, PETER GORDON was a graduate of the University of Toronto in 1881, and had practised in Whitby, but for a few years had been living in Toronto. He took over his brother's practice following his stroke in 1914, but he died himself on May 25, 1915.

      MELDRUM, PETER G.

      The private funeral of Dr. Meldrum took place from the residence of his brother, Dr. N. W. Meldrum of Ayr to Crown Cemetery, Puslinch, via the 9: 42 Canadian Pacific Railway train, on Tuesday, Mary 26, 1915 and was largely attended. Dr. Meldrum was born in Puslinch on the old Meldrum homestead, 64 years ago. For a number of years, he taught school at Oshawa, Hamilton and Toronto, later taking a course in medicine and beginning his practice at Whitby, where he remained for many years, being also medical attendant for the Ladies' College there. He had recently taken up residence in Toronto. Some time ago, his brother, Dr. N. W. Meldrum of Ayr was taken with a stroke and he went to look after his practice and minister to him. He was taken suddenly ill at Ayr and passed away after a few days' illness on Tuesday, May 25. He married in 1874 to Mary Alice Fisher of Whitby, who survives him, with a family of four daughters and one son, Rolfe. The daughters are Winnifred, Mary McLean, Marguerite and Bernice, all of Toronto. He also leaves the following brothers and sisters: Dr. N. W. Meldrum of Ayr; Dr. J. A. Meldrum of Weston; George Meldrum of Guelph; Alex Meldrum of Sudbury; Mrs. Alex Marshall of Stoney Creek; Miss A. P. Meldrum of Toronto; Mrs. C. A. Lemen of Detroit; and Elizabeth of Areola, SK. Rev. Dr. Thomson and Rev. Brown of Ayr conducted the service at the house and Rev. George Little of Guelph at the grave.
