    • PHILLIPS, JAMES ALEXANDER Although no mention of him has been found thus far, the Weekly Reformer claimed him as a former residenti

      December 7, 1899. Dr. Phillips, who practised here for a while a year or so ago, is now in Brantford, where he is acquiring an enviable reputation, particularly as a surgeon.

      His obituary was in the Canadian Medical Association Journal, October 1941:

      Dr. J. A. Phillips, one of Brantford's oldest and most widely known physicians died September 4th at his residence. Dr. Phillips, who had practised there more than three decades, was 76 years old.

      Born in Guelph [other documents say Oshawa], Dr. Phillips attended school there and the medical school of old Trinity University, from which he graduated in 1887. After practising in Guelph and Pontypool, Ont. he went to Europe lor a postgraduate course in Vienna before starting practice in Brantford.

      He is survived by his wife.

      DR. J. A. PHILLIPS, 76 DIES AT BRANTFORD

      Brantford, Sept. 5-(CP)-Dr. J. A. Phillips, one of Brantford's oldest and most widely known physicians, died yesterday at his residence. Dr. Phillips, who had practised here more than three decades, was 76.

      Born in Guelph, Dr. Phillips attended school there and the medical school of old Trinity University, from which he graduated in 1887. After practising in Guelph and Pontypool, Ont., he went to Europe for a post-graduate course in Vienna before starting practice here.
