    • Mrs. Philip D. Spohn

      Mrs. Philip D. Spohn, 68, of 209 King St. South, Waterloo, wife of Dr. Spohn, died Friday at the K-W Hospital after a brief illness. She was born Sept. 30. 1886 in Byng Inlet, Ont. and had been a resident of the Twin Cities for 32 years.

      An arts graduate of Toronto University, she was an active Red Cross member and a member of the British Red Cross and the Order of St. John. She, served in the pay corps of the British Army in the First World War. She was a member of St. Louis RC Church, Waterloo. She was also prominent in sports in her earlier years.

      Mrs. Spohn was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Potvin. She was married in 1911 in Midland. Besides her husband. she is survived by son. Dr. James Douglas of Kitchener: three daughters, Miss Elizabeth of Ottawa; Mrs. Jack (Mary) Cunningham of Waterloo and Mrs. H. O. (Margaret) Kreiner of Timmins; two sisters. Miss Lia Potvin of Midland and Mrs. James Hengst of Columbus, Ohio, and 10 grandchildren. Two brothers, Frederick and James, predeceased her.

      Prayers will be recited at the residence Monday at 9:30 a.m., followed by requiem high mass at St. Louis RC Church at 10 a.m.with Rev. Jerome Ruth officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Waterloo. The body will be at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until 7 p.m. Sunday when removal will be made to the residence at 209 King St. South, Waterloo. Prayers will be recited Sunday at 8:30 p.m. at the residence.
