  • Notes
    • WATSON, WILLIAM ROBERT was born in 1861. He graduated from the University of Toronto in 1886, and received his degree from Victoria University in that same year. He then took postgraduate work in Great Britain and became a Licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians, London, in 1887.

He first practised in Burgessville for 16 years, and then moved to Burlington. He was planning to retire, but on the approach of the First World War, decided to continue in practice. He moved to Elmira in 1918.

His card in the Elmira Signet in 1920 read:

Dr. W. R. Watson M. B. Toronto University M. D. Victoria University L. R. C. P. London England. Physician, Surgeon Accoucheur. Successor to Dr. Montgomery.

The Daily Telegraph on November 6, 1918 mentioned him in the Elmira News: Dr. Watson has been appointed MOH since the death of the late Dr. Faulds.

He carried on a practice until 1927. At that time he was once more preparing to retire when he suffered a cerebral accident, which was quickly followed by a second one. He died in Kitchener on September 12, 1927, in his 67th. year. He was survived by his widow, two daughters and three sons, one of whom was Dr. George Watson.
