  Elson Fernandes of Kitchener Ontario passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 in his 87th year. Predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Lorraine (nee Polzin). Father to Susan Fernandes, Lynda Dechert (Doug), Marita Kochis (Dan Reid), Dave Fernandes (Angela), Loralee Fernandes, Liz Montag (Ken) and Elsa Fernandes (Shaun Smart). Brother to Betsie Claire Butt, Carol Gonsalves (Winston), Colin Fernandes and Gail Mew (Tim). Also survived by many grand and great-grand children. Elson was an expert and leader in the Steel Tank industry where he helped develop the Canadian Fire and Environmental codes for tanks to protect people and the environment. The family wishes to thank the compassionate palliative nurses from ParaMed and the PSW team from Bloom Care Solutions that cared for Elson in his home and were a great support and comfort to the family. As per Elson's request, cremation and a private family service have taken place. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation in Elson's name to the Mennonite Central Committee (donate.mcccanada.ca) or the charity of your choice.
