      Ninety-four-year-old William Ferguson, well known former resident of Owen Sound, died on Saturday at the home of his only son George Ferguson, 25 Oak St., Galt. For over 70 years a resident of this city, he was widely throughout this district as an expert blacksmith.

      He was born in Dunning, Perthshire, Scotland. His parents were the late George and Mary came to Eady Canada Ferguson. Mr. Ferguson when he was 21-years-old, and immediately began learning the blacksmith trade with the late James and William Teflord at Annan. A few years later he bought his own shop in Owen Sound, which he operated until 1924 when he retired.

      He was married at Annan in 1885 to the former Elizabeth Riddell, who predeceased him. He to Galt to live with his son 18 months ago. Besides his son George Ferguson, one grandchild, W. Q. Ferguson of Kingston survives.

      While he lived in Owen Sound, Mr. Ferguson was a faithful member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church.
