- STEIN, PAULINE (Nee Schlegel)
Many friends will hear with deep regret of the death of Mrs. Stein, mother of Bert Stein, City Editor of the London News. Mrs. Stein was taken sick but last Monday and passed away Saturday, in her 64th year. She was born in Suhl, Prussia and was the daughter of the late Lorenz and Wilhelmina Schlegel. She came to Morriston, near Guelph, in 1855 and married Henry G. Stein of Morriston. She has been a resident of London for thirty-three years and was a member of the Pride of the East Circle Companions of the Forest. She was an energetic member of All Saints Church, Hamilton Road. Her husband and five sons survive, Henry G. Jr. , Edward, Herbert, Clarence and Chester; also three brothers, Daniel Schlegel of Morriston;
Nicholson Schlegel of St. Louis; Henry Schlegel of Toledo; and one sister, Mrs. John McGuire of Leadville, Colorado. The funeral, which was private, took place on Monday afternoon from the family residence, 492 Hamilton Road to Woodland Cemetery. Rev. W. J. Spence of All Saints Church conducted the services.
