-The Rappolt family originally came from France to Germany in the Hugenot migrations. Margaret Bender ( 1828-1910) was born in Darmstadt, Hesse, Germany, a sister of Elizabeth Bender (Mrs. John Stein). Margaret married Louis Rappolt, a teacher. When he died, urged by Mrs. Stein, she emigrated to Canada, with her children, in 1867. Children were a daughter, who died in infancy in Germany; Frederick (1847-1876) of St. Louis; Otto (1857-1926) of Morriston; Ernest (1860-1879) died on pneumonia on arrival in Morriston; John (1865-1955) of Beverly Twp. , later Galt. Mrs. Rappolt raised her family by working out by the day with farmers until the children were big enough to work. On Oct. 28, 1873, she married again to Jacob Thiele (1839-1902).
