  Brian Kaufman April 29th, 1950 - September 4th, 2024 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Edward Brian Kaufman, affectionately known as Brian, who left us on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 74. Born on April 29, 1950, in Kitchener, Ontario, Brian lived a life marked by love, dedication, and an enduring spirit. Brian was a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his children, Rebecca Mathes (Megan), Jonathan Kaufman (Robin), Rachel Butler (Kory), Benjamin Kaufman (Teela), Leah Kaufman, and Joshua Kaufman (Allison). His legacy also lives on through his cherished grandchildren, Renton and Camden Mathes, Gwendolyn and MacArthur Kaufman, Alexis, Brynley, and Corbin Butler, Phoenix and Austin Kaufman, and Emeri Kaufman. Brian is also remembered with affection by his former spouse, Laura Tarbell (Robin); his siblings, Nancy Anthony (Reg) and Brenda Kaufman; his niece, Debbie Stuckless; and a wide circle of friends and extended family. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Catherine (Dyer) Kaufman. Brian dedicated his career to the craft of finishing carpentry, where his meticulous work and attention to detail were highly regarded. Outside of his professional life, Brian was passionate about carpentry, wood carving, and art. He loved being in the mountains, hiking, and biking, and enjoyed watching sports. Brian was a great supporter of his family, actively participating in and cheering for their various activities and passions. His enthusiasm for their endeavors was a testament to his unwavering love and commitment. A Memorial Service to celebrate Brian's life will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024. The service will begin with a meet-the-family gathering at 11:00 AM, followed by the Funeral Service at 12:00 PM, with light refreshments to follow. This will take place at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Forest Lawn Chapel, 833 44 St SE, Calgary, AB. For those unable to attend in person, the service will also be available via Zoom In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Lung Health Foundation Brian's warmth, kindness, and sense of humor touched many lives.
