  Late Jacob Schwass Funeral Held Saturday PORT ELGIN - The death of a well - known senior resident of Port Elgin occurred on Thursday. December 12th, when Jacob Schwass passed away at his home following a brief illness. Born 86 years ago in Waterloo Township, deceased moved with his parents to the 6th concession of Saugeen when he was two years old and was educated in S.S. No. 1, Saugeen. In 1895 married Catherine Vogt, and they took up residence on the 2nd Concession of Saugeen. Two daughters and five sons were born to this union: Sarah, Mrs Wm. Osborne, Annie, Mrs. Malcolm Wardrop. both of Port Elgin; Henry of Neustadt: Daniel of Paisley; Ezra, of Stratfora: and Arthur, on the homestead in Saugeen. Milton predeceased him at the age of two years. The family moved to Port Elgin in 1934, where Mrs. Schwass passed away six years later. Deceased was married in 1943 to the former Mrs. Ida Zinn of Baden who survives him. He also leaves to mourn two daughters and four sons, twenty-one grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Rev G. L. Gross, of Morriston, former pastor of the deceased, officiated at the funeral service, conducted from the Evangelical United Brethren Church on Saturday. December 15th. Interment was in Sanctuary Park. Pallbearers were Lloyd Percy and Walter Thede. Wilfred Rodger and Howard Schwass. Floral tributes were born by five grandsons.
