Mrs. Macpherson Dead Norwood, Brother Killed in B.C
By a tragle coincidence on Tuesday, death claimed the lives of a brother and sister in widely-separated parts of Canada.
The brother, Frank Buettner, yougest member of the fhmily, was at work blasting trees near Now Westminster, B.C, when he was struck by a tree root and instantly killed.
His sister, Mrs. Margaretha Macpherson, died the same day while on visit to her daughter, Mrs. W. J. F. Reith, 103 Claremont ave., Norwood. She suffered a paralysis stroke about a week age. Her health had been good up to that time.
Mrs. Macpherson was the widow of Alexander Macpherson, a former resident of the city and a pioneer member of Knox United church. Funeral services were held at the home of her daughter this afternoon. The body will be forwarded to Springfield for burial. Word of the death of Mrs. Buettner was received in the city yesterday. Two brothers. Charles and Robert Buettner of Winnipeg. and Mrs. Reith, daughter of Mrs. Macpherson, survive them.

By a tragic coincidence on Tuesday January 8 death claimed the lives of a brother and sister in widely separated parts of Canada

His sister Mrs Margaretha Macpherson died the same day while on a visit to her daughter Mrs W J Reith- 103 Claremont avenue Norwood She suffered a paralytic stroke on Thursday January 3 Her health had been good up to that time
Both Mr Buettner and Mrs Macpherson were known in St Catharines where the family formerly resided and thelr deaths will be learned with slncere regret by their many friends
Mrs Macpherson's home was at Springfield but she has been making extended visits to Winnipeg with relatives since the death of her husband which occurred in 1919
Mrs Macpherson was one of the early residents of Winnipeg She went there In 1881 accompanying Mr and Mrs Joseph Wolfe prominent pioneers to the west from her home in St Catharines Later in the year she was followed by her parents Mr and Mrs Frank Buettner and the other member of the family who have resided there since
Established Store
Mr Macpherson was one of the department manager of the Hudson Bay company store in the early 80s but in 1886 left Winnipeg for East Orange NJ and later went to Springfield where with his brother-in-law A W Edwards he established a large department store which was continued until the death of the two partners Mr Macpherson dying in 1916 and Mr Edwards in 1919: when the business was disposed of to others.
Besides her daughter Edna Mrs Reith living in Norwood and her sister Mrs K J Johnston of Winnipeg .Mrs Macpherson is survived by one son Alexander banker of Springfield also by two brothers Charles H and Robert W Buettner of Winnipeg
Funeral services were held on Thursday January 10 at the home of Mr and Mrs Reith 103 Claremont avenue conducted by Rev Prof. F. W. Kerr DD of Knox Church after which the body was taken to Springfield for burial beside her husband Her son Alexander Macpherson accompanied the body .
