- Henry G. Freeman
PRESTON-Henry George Freeman known familiarly to numerous citizens of Preston and district as "Harry," died suddenly in St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, at 1:30 Sunday morning. The late Mr. Freeman, who had been active in his duties last week, was. stricken by a heart attack and removed to hospital only three days prior to his death.
A native of Leicester, England, he came to Canada in 1910 and resided in Preston most of the time since.
For eight years he was a salesman with the former Hurlbut Shoe Company, Preston, and for the past 25 years was employed in the same capacity with the Woelfle Shoe Company, Kitchener, although he continued to reside in Preston.
Some 18. months ago he was married to the former Velma Veitch, of Preston who survives. A devout member of Knox Presbyterian Church, the late Mr. Freeman was also a member of the Kirk session. 'He was actively interested in lodge work, being a member of Preston Lodge 297 AF A and AM, Preston Chapter Royal Arch Masons, Royal City Lodge of Perfection, Guelph, and Guelph Chapter of Rose. Croix, and the Consistory of Hamilton. Surviving are his wife, two sons; Sydney James, chairman of Preston board of education, and John Clifford, both of Preston; a daughter, Mrs. Hugh A. McLaren (Helen) of Galt.
Six grandchildren also survive, The body is at the Stager-Pass, Ltd., Funeral Home where service will be conducted in the chapel at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery. Stuart.
