Nelson Paul Kurt, of RR#4 Durham, passed away at his home on Saturday, July 14, 2018 in his 85th year. Beloved husband of Esther Kurt (nee Stemmler) for sixty-five years. Loving father of Denise and her husband Patrick Turner of Durham, Joanne Kurt of Durham and Jeff Kurt and his wife Tina of Chapleau. Cherished grandfather of Travis Kurt, Eliza (David) Dippel, Amy (Ken) Liversage, Vicki (Doug) Lorentz, and Laura Jauch (Trevor). Great-grandfather of Cody, Riley, Grace, Isaac, Luke, Phillip, Brooke, Danielle, Alaina, Devon, Ethan, Milo, Damien and Lily. Dear brother of Mae Nowak, Margaret and her husband Edward Palubiskie, and Betty Bowman. Brother-in-law of Catherine Kurt and Ruth Kurt. Nelson will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews and their families, and his friends. Predeceased by his Parents Paul and Eliza Kurt, daughter Darlene Kurt, his son David Kurt, great-grandson Keith, siblings; Cecil Kurt (the late Myra), Art (the late Tony), Harvey (the late Lou), Howard, Lilly Gardner (the late Cecil), Grace (the late Ken Ernst), Norman, Clayton, and Melvin Kurt. Nelson was a dedicated employee of Pannel Veneer in Kitchener for forty one years; before becoming a resident of Southgate Township for thirty one years.
Nelson was a longtime member of Hillside Academy Swinton Park, Saugeen Valley Fur Feather Group and St. John's Catholic Church. A memorial mass will be held at St. John's Catholic Church (Glenelg), 384256 Concession 4, West Grey on Saturday, July 21st at 11 a.m., with visitation prior to the mass from 10 -10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to your local hospital, Hillside Academy, or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
